After setting up your Keysight ADS workspace and dropping in our SI/PI models, the real power of our SI/PI library becomes clear. Our pre-defined component models, which include state-space average VRM models, regulators, and other essential components, are built for comprehensive power integrity analysis. They provide the foundation for powerful co-simulations that give you a complete picture of your design's performance.
In this video, we'll demonstrate the full process of Keysight ADS co-simulation for PI analysis using a template to quickly generate critical power integrity data. You’ll see how our SI/PI models—sourced from industry leaders like Texas Instruments and Analog Devices—can provide detailed results on impedance, output ripple, PSRR (Power Supply Rejection Ratio), and noise spectrum. This rich data is essential for making informed design decisions and ensuring the stability of your power delivery network (PDN).
In just a few seconds, we obtained and plotted:
The full PDN impedance using an S-Parameter simulation
PSRR by an AC simulation
Steady-state voltage ripple at the load, the VRM's steady-state inductor current, and the noise analysis (noise spectra for the voltage ripple, inductor current, and switching node) using a Harmonic Balance simulation
This process is greatly simplified by our built-in simulation schematic templates and data display templates for PDN simulations. Each one is designed to make the process easy and efficient with just a few clicks to insert the template and configure it to your design parameters.
These advanced simulations are a natural progression from the foundational concepts we explored in our previous blog, where we detailed how to set up your workspace and add our PDK. The accuracy of these power integrity results is a direct benefit of using high-fidelity VRM models and SI/PI models, as we discussed in "Power Integrity Unleashed: Navigating State-Space Average VRM Models for Robust Simulation Designs in Keysight ADS." In our next blog, we'll show you how to use Non-invasive Stability Measurement (NISM) to check for and correct stability issues on your PDN.
Take your power integrity analysis and PDN design to the next level. If you're ready to unlock comprehensive co-simulation capabilities, reach out to us to inquire about licensing our SI/PI Library for your team.
